Ohio Graduation Test
|
Starting the week of March 14th 2007 10th graders all over the state of Ohio will take the Ohio Graduation Test. This is the first time that students will be required to pass the test in order to graduate. Students however, will have several opportunities to take and pass The Ohio Graduation Test. These opportunities will be from their sophomore year until their senior year.
The Ohio Graduation Test is divided into five sections which cover math, social studies, science, reading and writing. Students will be given 21/2 hours per section to complete the test.
If a student does not pass The Ohio Graduation Test they will be able to retake the test again each year. They will only have to retake the section/s that they have not passed before.
Each Ohio school takes a different approach in preparing their students for The Ohio Graduation Test. They use several different combinations of study opportunities and classroom activities. Some schools provide tutoring for students during lunch. There are also schools that have set up mock tests in environments similar to the actual OGT environment. They feel this will help cut down on student’s anxiety.
Ohio teachers realize how important it is for students to know the material need to pass the Ohio Graduation Test and they are doing every thing they can to see that this happens.
