Ohio Graduation Test: Preparing for the Science Section
|
I have spoken to a few students in the Waverly School District; we discussed The OGT that is starting March 12th and what sections of the Ohio Graduation Test worry them the most. They all said that it would be math and science. They said they think that even though math is hard they feel the OGT Science Section will be the hardest section to overcome.
For many students understanding and comprehending Science is a very complicated process. They feel that the OGT Science Section will be even harder to pass then the Math section. However they did say that they feel the teachers have helped them prepare adequately and they will pass, but it will just take longer than other sections. Students, Parents and Teachers need to address the issue of the students being able to pass not only the OGT Science Section but all sections of the OGT. Students need to study, practice and use online prep tools such as the practice tool IQ-ity offers that is designed especially for Ohio Students.
To enable students to prepare appropriately for the OGT Science section, they need to understand the OGT Science standards. The OGT Science standards identify essential expectations of Ohio students such as knowing and recognizing concepts, principles and theories and processes of Science.
The OGT Science Section consists of thirty-two multiple choice, four short answers and two extended response questions. In order for students to pass the OGT Science Section they must know; earth and space sciences, science and technology, and scientific inquiry. Students need to make sure to practice, study and use online prep tools a lot to prepare especially now with the OGT so close. They not only need to study for the science section but for all 5 sections of the OGT.
