Ohio Graduation Test

Teachers in Ohio are worried that thousands of Ohio students may not get their high school diplomas on time. This years graduating class is the first class that is required to pass the new and more difficult Ohio Graduation Test. The Ohio Graduation Test is required to be taken by all 10th, 11th and 12th grade students in Ohio.
This year’s senior class began taking the test in their sophomore year, and about 23 percent of Ohio's seniors still have to pass at least one section of the Ohio Graduation Test before graduating.
Sophomore's Juniors and Seniors took the Ohio Graduation Test earlier this month, the scores will come out in May and the 2007 senior class will then find out who gets to graduate.
Last year about 14,000 students had their graduations held up for failing to pass the ninth-grade proficiency test. This was the test before the Ohio Graduation Test that determined who could graduate.
The Ohio Graduation test, tests knowledge at a higher grade level than the previous test did. The new test has fewer multiple choice questions and more short essay responses.
The key to helping your child pass the Ohio Graduation Test is lots of practice and studying combined with with giving them the confidence that they can pass this test. If you have a child that will be taking this test next year it is never to early to start practicing.
