Give us your opinion about OGT testing.

On May 21 as reported by the Toledo Blade. 147 seniors are not going to be able to graduate on time. These seniors failed at least one section of the Ohio Graduation Test. The Ohio Graduation Test is mandatory test that Ohio students must pass by their senior year in order to receive their diploma. The class of 2007 is the first year that Ohio students are required to pass the OGT.

Students that are now high school seniors started taking the exam in their sophomore year. By 2007 their senior year it became a requirement that all Ohio Seniors must pass all five sections in, reading, science, math, social studies and writing, to receive their diplomas.

In March 2007 295 seniors and 482 juniors took at least one part of the test that they had not successfully passed yet.

On May 21, 30 very outraged students who failed at least one section of the Ohio Graduation Test protested in the front of the Toledo Public Schools administration building. These students were protesting the fact that they would not receive a diploma and not even be allowed to walk with their classmates during the upcoming commencement.
